Lavender alternative for the whole team, not just the SDRs
Lavender scores cold emails for reply rate and coaches the sales team, from $29 a month. Presend checks every message anyone sends — for secrets, banned promises, missing attachments and AI slop — and measures voice against your own writing, for $3.
Lavender is a sales-email coach and it is good at that specific job: predicting whether a cold email will get a reply and telling a rep how to fix it. Presend does not predict reply rates. If you run an outbound sales team, Lavender is the closer comparison to a sales tool. If what you want is a pre-send check that every person in the company can afford and that catches the mistakes coaching never mentions, Presend is that.
What Lavender does
Lavender is an AI email coach for sales teams. It scores a draft against reply-rate benchmarks, flags length, reading level, formatting and personalisation, and offers AI writing and prospect research inside Gmail, Outlook and the major sales-engagement tools. Plans run from a free tier limited to a handful of emails a month, to individual plans around $29–49 a month, to team plans around $69 per user with analytics.
Why people look elsewhere
- It is priced and built for outbound sales. At $29–69 a seat it is not a whole-company tool.
- It optimises for replies, which pushes every email toward the same short, formulaic shape.
- It coaches the pitch and ignores the risk — nothing stops a rep sending a discount they were not authorised to give.
- The AI writer produces the exact kind of email recipients have learned to recognise as AI.

Coaching the Pitch Versus Guarding the Send
Lavender's job is to get a cold email answered. It reads a draft and scores it against what gets replies — length, reading level, a question, personalisation, a mobile-friendly shape — and tells the rep what to change. It is a coach, it is good, and Presend does not do it.
Presend's job is to make sure the message that goes out is one you would still stand behind tomorrow. It does not know what gets replies. It knows what gets people fired: the credential in the body, the customer's contract value in a message to a different customer, the discount a rep was not authorised to offer, the "see attached" with nothing attached, and the draft that reads so much like a chatbot that the buyer stops reading.
Those are different jobs. A sales team might reasonably want both. Everyone else in the company only needs the second.
The Benchmark Problem
Coaching toward reply-rate benchmarks has a side effect: every email converges on the same shape. Short, a question at the end, a first name in the first line, a case study in the second. Buyers have seen ten thousand of them and can now identify the template on sight.
Presend measures the other direction. Its voice engine compares a draft against your own sent messages — character trigrams, function words, punctuation rhythm, contractions — and returns a verdict: sounds like you, or drifts, with the drifting sentences underlined. It is local, deterministic, and abstains until it has enough of your writing. Its slop engine counts model tells and returns clean, traces or slop. Neither pushes you toward a benchmark. Both pull you back toward yourself.
What Coaching Never Mentions
No email coach flags a live API key. None of them notice that the pricing in this draft belongs to a different account. None of them know your company has banned the phrase "guaranteed ROI". Presend ships ten built-in checks for exactly this — credentials by vendor prefix and by sentence label, SSN and card patterns, attachment and link mentioned but missing, external recipients listed, empty subject, missing sign-off, AI phrasing, banned phrases, subject/body mismatch — and raises a confirmation when a finding is classed as risk.
Then the rules that are specific to your team, written in plain English with a severity each: "block any message offering a discount above 15% unless the subject contains an approval ticket." On Team, those rules are shared across the org and can call a webhook or your CRM when the check needs data Presend does not have.
Whole-Company Pricing
Lavender is priced per rep: a limited free tier, individual plans around $29–49 a month, teams around $69 per user. That is a sales-tool price, and for a sales tool it may be worth it.
Presend is priced so that everyone can have it. Free covers twenty-five AI checks a day with local rule checks and voice scoring unlimited; Pro is $3 a month; Team is $29 per user per month for shared rules, the Custom Actions pipeline, webhooks and the dashboard. It runs in Gmail, Outlook Web, Slack, LinkedIn, X and every other compose box on the web — including the sales-engagement tools your reps write in, since those are compose boxes too.
