Superhuman alternative if you are leaving over the bundle, not the speed

Superhuman Mail now comes only inside the $33-a-month Business bundle with Grammarly and Coda. Presend is not an email client. It is the one thing Superhuman does not do — a send gate — inside the Gmail or Outlook you already have, for $3.

The short version

Presend is not a replacement email client and will not make your inbox faster. If speed and keyboard flow are why you pay for Superhuman, keep paying. If you are leaving because Mail got folded into a $33 bundle you did not ask for, and what you actually valued was feeling in control of what you send, Presend gives you that control inside plain Gmail or Outlook for $3.

What Superhuman does

Superhuman is a keyboard-first email client on top of Gmail and Outlook, known for speed, split inbox, snippets and AI drafting. Grammarly acquired the company in July 2025 and adopted the Superhuman name; since then Superhuman Mail is sold only on the Business plan — about $33 per month on annual billing or $40 monthly — bundled with Grammarly, Coda and Superhuman Go. The standalone Mail tier is gone for new customers.

Why people look elsewhere

  • The standalone plan is gone. To keep the mail client you now buy the whole bundle.
  • $33–40 a month per person is hard to justify for a team, however fast the client is.
  • It replaces Gmail's interface, so the whole team has to migrate or nobody does.
  • For all the speed, nothing in it stops you sending the wrong thing. Speed makes that faster too.

Not a Replacement Client

Let us clear this up before the comparison table does: Presend will not replace Superhuman. It is not an email client. It has no inbox, no shortcuts, no split view, no snippets, no summaries and no search. If you open it expecting a faster Gmail you will be disappointed within a minute.

Presend is a Chrome extension that sits inside Gmail or Outlook on the web and checks the message you are about to send. That is a different product, and the reason it belongs on this page is that a lot of people who bought Superhuman were not really buying speed. They were buying the feeling of being in control of their email. The bundle has made that feeling expensive, and it turns out the part of email you most need control over — the outbound half — is the part Superhuman never touched.

What Changed in 2025

Grammarly acquired Superhuman in July 2025 and rebranded the combined company under the Superhuman name that autumn. Superhuman Mail stopped being sold on its own. It now comes only on the Business tier, about $33 a month on annual billing or $40 monthly, bundled with Grammarly, Coda and Superhuman Go.

If you were on the old standalone plan, you may be grandfathered. If you are new, you are buying a suite, and if you only wanted the mail client, you are paying for two products you may never open.

Speed Does Not Stop a Bad Send

Superhuman's pitch is that you process email faster. It delivers. But the mistakes that cost the most are not slowness; they are the reply-all with the internal number in it, the pasted key, the "see attached" with nothing attached, the draft that reads like a chatbot because Auto Drafts wrote it. Superhuman speeds all of those up.

Presend sits at the other end. It intercepts the send gesture — click or keystroke — and raises a confirmation when it finds a risk: a credential, an SSN or card pattern, a phrase your company banned, or a rule you wrote at risk severity. Warnings for the softer things sit beside the draft without blocking. You can still send. You cannot send without having looked.

Everywhere, Not Just Email

Superhuman is an email client. Presend runs in Gmail and Outlook Web, guards plain-Enter sends in Slack, checks LinkedIn DMs and posts, X, and every other textarea on the web. The same key that leaks in email leaks in a Slack thread; the same slop that undermines a client email undermines a LinkedIn post, where it escalates to a hard stop because the audience is strangers.

Two Engines Superhuman Does Not Have

Slop. A deterministic catalog of model tells returns clean, traces or slop. It needs no history and works on the first day — which matters if you have been letting Auto Drafts write for you.

Voice. A local engine compares the draft against your own sent messages and returns a verdict — sounds like you, drifts, too short, or not enough of your writing yet — underlining the sentences that drove it. The profile builds from what you actually send, runs in the browser, and never leaves the machine.

Pricing

Superhuman Mail: Business plan, about $33 a month annual or $40 monthly, bundled. Presend: free for twenty-five AI checks a day with local rule checks unlimited, $3 a month for Pro, $29 per user per month for Team. Keep Gmail. Keep the shortcuts you already know. Add the gate.

Stay with Superhuman if

  • The speed is the product for you and the bundle price is fine.
  • Split inbox and AI triage are saving you real time every day.
  • You want one vendor for mail, writing and docs.

Switch to Presend if

  • You only ever wanted the mail client and resent paying for Grammarly and Coda.
  • You want to keep plain Gmail or Outlook and your team does not want to migrate.
  • What you are actually afraid of is the send you cannot take back.
