How ⌘K Search Works

Triggering Search

Press ⌘K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows) anywhere in Gmail or Outlook. A clean, minimal search overlay appears — similar to the command palette in VS Code or Slack.

Asking Questions

Type your question in natural language. No syntax. No operators. Just ask what you want to know:

Getting Answers

2. Source Citations: Each claim in the answer is linked to the specific email and paragraph where the information was found. Click the citation to jump directly to that message in the thread.

3. Confidence Indicator: A signal showing how confident Presend is in the answer based on the available context. If the information isn't clearly stated in the thread, Presend tells you rather than guessing.

Search Modes

Thread Search

When you're viewing a specific email thread, ⌘K searches within that thread's context. This is incredibly powerful for long, multi-participant threads where key decisions and commitments are buried dozens of messages deep.

Example: You're in a 35-message thread about a product launch. You press ⌘K and type: "What was the final launch date we agreed on?"

Presend scans all 35 messages, identifies the most recent consensus on launch date, and returns: "The team agreed on March 15, 2026 as the launch date" with a citation link to the specific message where this was confirmed.

Inbox Search

When you're in your inbox view, ⌘K searches across your recent emails. This is useful for questions like:

Cross-Thread Search
